For reference, Syracuse is outside the top 325 in percentage of initial shot attempts yielded in transition as well as percentage of total field goal attempts yielded in transition according to Hoop-Math, so the Tigers should have plenty of opportunities for some easy buckets against Syracuse. Their possessions often end with forced shots from their guards, which allows their opponents to get out in transition for easy shot attempts following defensive rebounds. Furthermore, they are not creating very many uncontested shots. The Orange have made less than 26% of their 3-point attempts to this point, and they score just 0.76 points per possession on their jump shots – which is tied for 329th per Synergy. In a game lined so tightly, I do not trust Syracuse enough offensively despite being the home team. In fact, the 49-point victory over Chaminade was the Orange’s first cover of the season. ![]() ![]() Meanwhile, Syracuse’s midweek win and cover over Chaminade ended its 2-game losing streak to Tennessee and Gonzaga at the Maui Invitational. Both teams won their most recent non-conference game during holiday week, but it is LSU that is in the midst of a 3-game winning streak – including wins over North Texas and Wake Forest on a neutral court. The LSU Tigers will make a rare trip to upstate New York on Tuesday when they travel to the JMA Wireless Dome to take on the Syracuse Orange.
